Using expansive material experimentation through sculpture and fleshy, decomposed
color pallets allow me to express emotions that are difficult to verbally express. Typically, the immensely distressing sculptural work constructed starts with a woven element. An interest in material studies and combining contrasting materials, such as, metals with textiles and weaving through sculpture, allows for a broad collection of techniques and materials to utilize in the ultimate goal of the process. While also trying to learn a new material or technique in every piece and continue to build a reservoir of emotional connections towards varied art processes. Within my process, can be personal narratives and experiences, or other moments of confusion in life; however, each piece reaches inner emotional parts societally expected to stay unexplored. This constructs the goal of my process, which is to utilize each art piece as a journal entry, and allow the materials to take control, creating works that can express “self” and the inner being better than words can.
